WE have lived in Upper Parkstone for over 50 years and we are very disappointed that once again we have no Christmas lights in Ashley Road.

There was a time when councillors were volunteers and worked for next to nothing.

But now, in recent years, they are paid good allowances but still we have no festive lights.

And it’s not just us saying this but all my neighbours and so many who speak to us when shopping and ask why it is there are no lights.

I think everyone agrees it is very poor of councillors.

It is beyond us – every other town or high street you drive through in the evening there are lights.

Some shops have some small trees up and that is good, and there is a large tree in front of St John’s church.

That as well is good, but still the main show should be lights on lampposts all along the pavements.

So come on Poole councillors for Upper Parkstone – tell us why is it our high street is the only one where we have no Christmas lights?

If it’s not your responsibility as civic leaders then who is doing all this work to get public lights up as we see in every other town and high street?
