I CAN tell East Dorset Friends of the Earth (Letters July 4) that Bournemouth Tourism manager's job is to fulfil his mission to provide ‘the best possible leisure and tourism services’; supporting the industrialising of our biggest attraction, the seaside, would hardly be a sensible strategy!
FoE’s quaint idea of the innovative (and presumably economically transformational) use of ‘boat trips to take a closer look’ at the windmills is about as sensible as offering trips in 4x4 vehicles around the countryside admiring electricity pylons.
No; the route to innovation in wind energy, assuming the country continues to fall for the propaganda, is to do what was done for Europe’s largest on-shore oil field (Wytch Farm, Purbeck) – put it out of sight.
