ON Saturday a unique event took place in Verwood. Thirty seven ladies aged between 12 and 80+ from the three Verwood Concert Brass Bands, performed a one off concert in aid of Breakthrough for Breast Cancer and band funds.
This 'Blushing Brass' concert was the first one that the ladies had ever met to perform together and was a resounding success.
Learning of their intentions a well known brass band composer, Derek Broadbent, had composed a piece especially for the occasion. 'Easy on the Eye, Easy on the Ear' was performed on the night to much acclaim.
Not only was the music good but the ladies had worked all day to raise money and the outcome was a staggering £1662.98, to be shared between the band and the cancer charity.
As a resident of Verwood I applaud their efforts and hope that they'll do it again in the future.
