AS Bournemouth welcomes in the new mayor, I would like to thank the outgoing mayor Cllr Phillip Stanley-Watts for all the effort he has put in during his term.
He surely must be the most featured mayor of Bournemouth ever in the Daily Echo.
It seems to me that hardly a day went by without a photo of him doing something to promote the town.
Boundless energy, not withstanding hospitalisation due to his recent ill health, and along with other functions he still presided over the monthly ceremony welcoming new British citizens to Bournemouth.
Even in his last week he was photographed sampling Thai food, meeting the Queen, chatting to Prince Philip and attacking a punch bag at a local sports club.
Phew Phil, talk about ‘going out with a bang’.
