I AM sorry to have read of our visitor from the Netherlands, Mr Callus’ experience in paying for parking via the Ringo telephone system (Letters, May 3).

This system works very well and customers are normally very happy that they are saved the inconvenience of having to find cash when they want to park and can extend their parking without having to even return to their car.

It is unfortunate for Mr Callus that just whilst he was purchasing his ticket, the Civic Enforcement Officer passed his car and understandably, only saw that there was no valid ticket or permit, and appropriately served a fixed penalty notice.

As Mr Callus clearly will have evidence that he had just paid for parking. we will certainly look into this incident and look to cancel the penalty as appropriate. We apologise for the upset cause and hope to rectify the situation as soon as possible.
