YES – Mr Colledge is quite correct (Letters April 18) in describing the Pavilion as the ‘Jewel in Bournemouth’s Crown’ but I can assure him that we are a long way from losing this asset.

Over the past four years the council has undertaken a major programme of improvements and refurbishment and there is more to come!

The roof of the ballroom has been replaced and the theatre roof retiled.

The Regional Dance Centre and Arts University Drama Centre are now established on the lower floor together with our Terrace Bistro which offers excellent food throughout the day together with pre-show dinners.

The Pavilion is now managed by our leisure trust – BHLive – which has provided a sound financial basis for future operation.

Our most recent addition is an acoustic shell for the theatre stage. This has provided a greatly enhanced sound for our valued Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra which will be offering more concerts at this venue in the future.

The Pier Theatre is under separate management who are working hard to introduce new productions for the summer season.

Should Mr Colledge like to have an update tour of either of these venues please contact me via the Bournemouth council website and I will arrange this.
