Re the appalling decision to stop disabled children being carried up a flight of stairs at Scaplen’s Court.

I never cease to be amazed at the conduct of the po faced jobsworths with the “Computer Says No” attitude who regard disabled small children as a health and safety risk.

Every mum and dad knows that small children often have to be carried, disabled or not.

Does this mean that parents are at risk?

Should we all be issued with hi vis jackets and safety harnesses to climb the stairs at Scaplen’s Court.

This stupendously stupid decision that has, in my knowledge, never been enacted before is totally counterproductive. To quote Cllr Butt “We hope that parents will understand that we must prioritise the safety of visitors”.

No Cllr Butt, we do not understand. If you see it as a problem, then do something about it, not in effect ban a whole vulnerable part of our community.

Peter Farrington, the head of Prince of Wales School, is an able and responsible teacher whose experience in organising able and disabled children far exceeds any local jobs worth.

He is obviously upset as I’m sure the children are.

This bureaucratic nonsense means that this school will probably never visit Poole again, and who can blame them.

I see this decision as an act of serious discrimination against disabled children.

All those responsible should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves and take a short course in compassion and common sense.
