I HAVE been visiting Swanage on and off for the past 50 years and I am appalled to see that you are even considering putting one windmill out at sea in this beautiful area, let alone 175 or 218.

Are there not any level headed, common sense people on this decision-making committee?

We are in an area of outstanding beauty, there is a national park nearby, also England’s only World Heritage site close by.

The windmills would be on the important international bird migration route, also in an area of intensive shipping and boating activity and they would be closer to land than similar areas in Europe.

What is wrong with harnessing the sun’s rays by solar panels? Perhaps we could make them in Great Britain.

There is a small number on a stretch of the M27. Why not build banks of them on our motorways where there are not houses? Surely that wouldn’t upset many people.

Because past governments haven’t had the courage to grasp the nettle in terms of our energy needs, decisions should have been made years ago about our future energy. Now we are having to take the easy option and panicking.

I notice that the developers are ENCO and EDF (not even British). Are we incapable of producing our own windmills? How pathetic.

What must the Dutch and French think of us.

Once a great nation now a second world country, having other nations to provide for us.

They must be rubbing their hands. As you can see I strongly object to these proposed windmills and hope that the day will never come.
