MAY I add my tribute to Kevin Nash whose untimely death has saddened a good many across the sporting community?
Kevin was a stalwart for the Echo in the Bournemouth Evening Cricket League until they folded in 1984 having been members since 1949 when the League was founded. He also played with distinction for Moordown in the B.&.D.C.A.
I well remember his quick bowling and aggressive batting.
In a match I was umpiring at Plessey’s picturesque Somerford ground I gave him out lbw playing well forward.
In retrospect it was one of my questionable decisions.
He looked long and hard and gave me a glare before walking off.
No dissent in the bar afterwards and the incident wasn't even mentioned. That was Kevin all over.
A gentleman, good sportsman, and an excellent writer whether it was about his beloved AFCB or golf.
He will be much missed.
