READING the Echo on Saturday 26 January and other comments which have been written, it must be obvious by now what is needed to bring the town up to date and ensure it is a very desirable holiday resort come rain or shine.

I always said an ice rink would make money and entice visitors and locals with the right management.

It is no good with temporary ones that can only hold a small amount of people.

We need a good-sized one that can be used for everything.

Now, I believe there is another facility we need in the town, and that is a decent-sized swimming pool with diving boards like the one we had originally in the pier approach baths.

My children and many others learnt to swim and dive there but I believe I am right in saying we do not have any such pool in Bournemouth.

Having these two facilities would be a great bonus and it would put Bournemouth on the map for more people to want to come here, as well as having a wonderful beach and all the other entertainment we have to offer.

We have facilities for dance classes and dances, we have shows and concerts, but the locals and visitors need those extra activities which will offer something that no other south coast town has.

So come on Bournemouth Council, you have your golf courses, give us our ice rink and swimming pool.
