THE pinch points near Burley were repaired only to be knocked down again the following day.
The question has to be: Why have any at all on the road from the village towards Burley Street?
There are private properties on each side of the road and a pavement. Plus a speed restriction. Now Hampshire Highways are being asked to make good those damaged points yet again. I say, remove them, then they won’t be hit.
I have always written that they were in the wrong place. But what I do I know? I was only born here.
If any pinch points are required, it is along the straight between Burley Street and Picket Post, which is open heathland. As for the village itself, it now needs a 20 mph speed limit within the centre, starting from the school, to beyond Sandy Shoot.
In Pound Lane, there is no need for three. Two would be enough. Again, that has a 30 mph anyway!
The road from Burley to Thorney Hill is far more dangerous with all the various pinch points, and that is also covered by a 40 mph limit. Those have been hit several times.
Someone will be killed and the council sued.
