WITH reference to Mr Dugdale’s letter dated (December 13) on aircraft noise, there are no restrictions to flights arriving or departing. In fact the Bournemouth Airport website actively encourages cargo companies to use their night time facilities, unlike Southampton who have no scheduled flights after 11pm and departing or arriving flights are not permitted before 6am on weekdays, or before 07.30am on Sunday.
Next year – 2013 – the airport’s noise reduction policy comes under review again, so it will be important for those people who are being disturbed to ensure they put in a response.
Christchurch Council controls the airport’s noise quota and is the one to complain to.
Sleep deprivation contributes towards heart attacks, strokes and traffic accidents.
