WE are both pleased that the four suggested travellers’ sites have now finally, after some 11 months, been finally deleted from the issues and options consultation document.

We thank Cllr John Beesley for saying that for “sound planning reasons none of the sites put forward by Bakers Associates will be taken further forward” (Daily Echo, October 23).

We feel the whole process has been flawed regarding the chosen sites and the selection criteria used, such as sites being reasonable, realistic, and effective. These sites failed on all accounts.

The evidence we have built up in the past 11 months shows how Erlin Farm and Careys Road fail the test.

No consultation was held with service directors and the tenant farmer.

All these issues were raised at the so-called consultation stage in November last year.

And who put forward the four site options in the first place without doing the proper and detail research first?

In the case of Erlin Farm, it is grade one agriculture land and is farmed. Careys Road, Lansdowne Road, Throop Road are all within built-up areas and raise traffic issues through residential roads. Madness beyond words.
