STEFFEN Foley set the champagne corks popping when he won the Junior European Open in Spain in dramatic style.

The Parkstone Golf Club prospect had to endure a nail-biting finale but eventually took victory by a single shot.

Some 104 players took part in the competition, which was played at the Alcaidesa Links and Heathland courses and Finca Cortesin.

Foley was tied for third ahead of the final round at Finca Cortesin and shot a one-under-par 71 thanks to a birdie at the last hole.

His overall score of level-par meant a par for leader Jeong Sim at the 18th would take the tournament to a play-off.

But the 17-year-old could only manage a bogey and so a delighted Foley took the honours.
