MANAGER Nick Hutchings hailed his Wimborne Town stars after they had defied a numerical disadvantage to produce a five-star display.
The depleted young Magpies found themselves reduced to 10 men as they had no substitutes to replace injured Jordan Martin Phillips.
But that did not halt their progress as a hat-trick from Chris Wilcox and Marcus Brumpton’s double sealed a 5-1 victory over Wareham Rangers in the second round of the Dorset Under-16s Youth Cup.
Hutchings, who is also the first-choice goalkeeper for Poole Town in the Southern League, told Echo Youth Sport: “The boys performed very well.
“We lost Jordan Martin Phillips to injury after 30 minutes and, due to injuries and unavailability, we had no subs, so we had to play the rest of the game with 10 men.
“They all took on extra responsibility, though, and I was extremely pleased with the performance.”
