EMILY Clarke put two years of injury problems behind her to dominate her events in the Dorset Development Meet at Littledown.

The 15-year-old won 10 gold medals from 10 events – and broke the competition best times (CBTs) in five of them.

Her records came in the 15yrs 50 and 100m freestyle in 27.87 and 1:01.40, the 50m butterfly and backstroke in 30.00 and 31.36 and the 100m individual medley in 1:010.79. She also won the 50, 100 and 200m breaststroke, 200m medley and the freestyle ‘skins’ knock-out and was named fastest female swimmer on both days of the meet.

Clarke, who broke her ankle in 2011 and then missed the 2012 national championships due to ear infections and a twisted knee, was also out of the pool for several months this year follow-ing an ear operation in February.

Coach Robin Armayan said: “The develop-ment meet was an opportunity to see what her times were after five months out of the water. She did really well. I think next year may be her year.”

Clarke said: “I missed last year’s nationals and this year’s Dorset and South West championships. But I’m almost back to fitness now and hoping for a long period of good health.”

Clarke’s winnings helped Poole to win the most improved club trophy for the second year running.

Their medal tally amounted to 24 gold, 25 silver and 26 bronze.

Swim Bournemouth’s Ethan Bell was almost a match for Clarke, winning seven gold medals and setting CBTs in four of them – the 50 and 200m backstroke (35.20 and 2:42.70), 50m butterfly (34.53) and 200m medley (2:44.38).

He also won the 12yrs 50m freestyle, 100m butterfly and 200m breaststroke, helping Swim Bournemouth to win the top club trophy for the third year running.

Team-mate Morgan Long, also 12, scored a hat-trick of CBTs on her way to seven victories.

She won all three breaststroke distances, both individual medleys, the 100m backstroke and the 200m freestyle, setting records in the 50 breast, 100 medley and 200 free.

Two records apiece went to Swim Bournemouth’s Finn Trehane in the boys’ 11yrs 50m butterfly (35.90) and 100m medley (1:16.54) and Aiste Razmaite in the girls’ 14yrs 100 and 200m backstroke.

Trehane was also named most improved male sprinter with other improvement awards gong to team-mates Blaize Kenny (female medley), Olivia Hepburn (female medley) and Issy Hepburn (female sprinter).

Jack Simpkins won the fastest boys’ swim on day one as he broke the CBT for the 15yrs 50m breaststroke.

Six other Swim Bournemouth swimmers also set CBTs – Isabelle Hepburn (10yrs 200m breaststroke), Trevin Michelo (11yrs 50m breaststroke), Ella-Rose Bowman (10yrs 50m backstroke), Abi Axe-Browne (16- 18yrs 50m backstroke), Ben Williams (15yrs 200m butterfly) and Eleanor Devine (14yrs 200m medley).

Axe-Browne and Ben Wickens won the backstroke skins while team-mate Luke Roxburgh won seven gold medals.

Four Seagulls swimmers won “most improved” awards – Abbie Peckham (400m freestyle and 200m form), Nathan Gerrard (400m freestyle) and Freddie Porter (200m form.

Sisters Anashe and Nyasha Chisadza were among five Seagulls who broke CBTS, Anashe setting new figures of 1:21.97 in the 11yrs 100m backstroke, Nyasha recording a time of 41.56 in the 9yrs 50m backstroke.

Seagulls’ other record-breakers were Maisie Gormley in the 14yrs 50m freestyle and 16-18yrs swimmers Rachael Awcock in the 100m medley and Ben Price in the 50m breaststroke.

Clayemore picked up two awards through Natasha Breese (most improved 200m freestyler) and Aiden Guest (fastest male swim on day two).

Lucy Denton-Smith gave Blandford Flyers a taste of the record-breaking with a CBT of 36.10 in the 9yrs 50m freestyle.

Annabel Alers-Hankey did the same for Wareham in the 10yrs 50m freestyle (34.76).
