BETH Aitchison became a South West champion three times over at Millfield – and lowered one of her Dorset junior records just three weeks after she set it.

The record came in the 50m breaststroke as she clocked a winning time of 33.62sec – a 0.15sec improvement on the time she achieved in the same pool last month.

Bournemouth Collegiate School’s golden girl also won the 15yrs 100m breaststroke by more than three seconds with a time of 1:13.96 and the 200m final by almost four seconds in 2:36.18.

The 200m time was also a two-second PB and brought her within 0.09sec of the Dorset junior record, held since 2000 by Charlotte Evans, two of whose other records Aitchison toppled last month.

With her 16th birthday just four weeks away, however, the Dorset and regional champion is fast running out of time to add that one to her tally.

Not content with a golden hat-trick, Aitchison also took silver in the 200m individual medley in 2:22.92, within half-a-second of her own Dorset junior record and one place ahead of former BCS team-mate Jessie Foster, now swimming for Bath squad Aquae Sulis.

BCS coach Zoe Baker said: “Beth’s swims were surprisingly fast considering that she’s still in hard training and focusing on the national cham-pionships this summer. Her 200m time blew us away.”

Team-mate Jamie Holmes grabbed silver in the 15yrs 50m breaststroke and just missed a second medal in the 100m as he finished fourth.

Kiana Hooshmand, in her first outing since joining BCS from Swim Bournemouth, came fourth in the 15yrs girls’ 200m breaststroke and sixth in the 50 and 100m.

Poole’s Todd Price added the 100m butterfly to his national youth programme with a time of 59.75 before finishing fourth in the 16yrs final.

In-form Dan Monk clocked seven PBs during a weekend that also saw him reach four finals and win a bronze medal in the 16yrs 50m backstroke in 30.40.

Dan Speers won bronze in the 15yrs 100m freestyle in 55.83 before withdrawing from his other events due to the effects of recent illness.

Poole’s Katie Mills, meanwhile, passed Swim Bournemouth rival Danielle Thwaites on the last length to snatch the bronze medal in the 17/o 200m butterfly in 2:32.42.

Inez Griffin and Georgia Kemp respectively reached the 15 and 16yrs 200m breaststroke finals, both finishing seventh.
