PIRATES boss Matt Ford admitted he would swoop for the services of luckless reserve Stefan Nielsen in future.

Nielsen's stint at Poole was cut short after he sustained a broken leg following a spectacular home-straight crash in the 45-45 home draw with Wolverhampton.

The front wheel of the Great Britain international reared up violently and he came off the back of his machine, later being taken away in an ambulance.

There had been concerns the Swindon asset had broken his tibia and fibula. But Nielsen, who also rides for Scunthorpe, escaped with just a broken tibia and will be sidelined for up to a month and a half.

Scorpions promoter Rob Godfrey told GrimsbyLive: “We are not talking about him being out for the rest of the season. He has just broken his tibia so we are looking at around four to six weeks."

Nielsen scored 22 paid 26 in four meetings after signing for Poole at the beginning of May.

And Ford revealed his hopes for the 23-year-old in seasons to come.

The Wimborne Road chief told the Daily Echo: “I can’t imagine he would return to Poole this campaign but I would certainly throw my hat in the ring for him in future.

“He did very well and I would particularly like to use him again."
