PIRATES are to meet bitter rivals Swindon in the SGB Premiership play-off semi-final.

The teams will lock horns for the right to face Belle Vue or Wolverhampton in the final next month.

Swindon had the choice of opponents having topped the regular season standings and Poole were tonight revealed as the Robins’ favoured option.

The first leg is set to take place at Wimborne Road on Monday, September 11 (7.30pm) with the away leg inked in for Monday, September 25.

The final is due to be staged on Monday, October 2 and Wednesday, October 4.

Alun Rossiter’s Swindon side have beaten Pirates twice away and once at home this season, with the other contest at the Abbey Stadium ending in a draw.

Poole squeezed into the play-offs on Friday having earned a last-gasp victory over Somerset at the Oaktree Arena.

A 5-1 in heat 15 from Brady Kurtz and skipper Hans Andersen guaranteed Pirates their spot in the top four in dramatic style.

Swindon saw a phenomenal 17-match winning run ended at Rye House last week.

The Robins are led by Grand Prix star Jason Doyle and possess the likes of Nick Morris and Tobiasz Musielak in their ranks.
