BRADY Kurtz vowed to do "everything possible" to win his fitness battle ahead of the new British season after a concerning crash Down Under.

The 20-year-old injured his hip when he collided with new Poole team-mate Jack Holder in heat 17 of the Australian Under-21 Solo Championship at Kurri Kurri in New South Wales.

Although Kurtz took part in the re-run, he pulled up on turn two as he was experiencing discomfort.

The former Somerset flier had already done enough to qualify for the B final but elected not to re-emerge for that race given his injury.

While a subsequent scan revealed muscle and bone bruising around the hip, it showed no bones had been broken.

But concerned by the pain the youngster was experiencing, doctors elected to keep him in hospital overnight in order to monitor his condition.

If Kurtz does not improve in the next few days, he could seek a second opinion at a fracture specialist clinic.

And the Poole charger admits he has little time on his hands with the first meeting at Wimborne Road – the Darcy Ward Invitational – just eight weeks away.

Kurtz told the Daily Echo: "I'm relieved they couldn't find a fracture and I hope they are right. But I'm still concerned as I feel something is definitely wrong.

"The best I can do at the moment is to give it a couple of days and see where I go from there. I don't have a lot of time to play with.

"I will try to do everything possible to make sure I'm fully fit and healthy for March."

Kurtz had been due to ride in a benefit meeting for Ward at North Brisbane on Saturday, February 11 but his involvement in that meeting is now in severe doubt.

Holder launched a brave defence of his Aussie under-21 crown and was unbeaten in four of his five qualifying rides.

However, world under-21 champion Max Fricke prevailed in the final, with Holder second, Jaimon Lidsey third and Josh Pickering fourth.
