WANTED man Nicolai Klindt insisted he had made the right decision to join Pirates after receiving interest from nearly every SGB Premiership club.

The Danish ace has been named as the fifth rider in Poole's new one-to-seven and joins the Wimborne Road outfit on a bargain 5.42 average.

Although the 27-year-old recorded a rating of 6.36 at Leicester during 2016, his Premier League average earned at Scunthorpe – nearly a point less – overrode that.

And the Wolverhampton asset, who is based in the West Midlands, feels he has made a wise choice in picking Pirates above other suitors.

Klindt told the Daily Echo: "I've had calls from every Premiership club, bar two. It's great to have had that interest as it hasn't been the case in Britain for the past couple of years.

"I'm a bit fortunate my average is that low because it makes me more attractive. If I had come in on 8.9, I don't think I would have had as much interest.

"Poole is a great club with great traditions and you often see riders progress a fair bit after they go there. I'm looking forward to doing the same. I had a fairly good season in England this year and I believe I can build on that.

"It's always more fun to ride for a winning team and a winning team gets more meetings, so Poole stuck out. It's a bit farther away for me than other tracks but if I'm coming from Sweden or Denmark, the drive home isn't going to be too bad.

"I haven't done extremely well at Poole in the past but if you look at my past two meetings there, when I've worked out the set-up and how to ride the track, I've been pretty decent. I'm sure I will sort it out."

Poole promoter Matt Ford has 14.34 points with which to recruit the final two members of the septet.

Pirates 2017: Krzysztof Kasprzak 11.07, Hans Andersen 10.01, Jack Holder 7.16, Nicolai Klindt 5.42, James Shanes 2.00.
