ADAM Ellis reckons penning a deal to remain at Eastbourne for the rest of the season can boost his away form for Poole Pirates.

The 20-year-old initially agreed to help out the National League outfit on a temporary basis but has since been persuaded to stay on as number one at Arlington, one of Britain’s shorter tracks.

Ellis, who confirmed Poole would retain priority over his services, told the Daily Echo: “Things have gone pretty well there. Eastbourne have been good to me and when I looked at the calendar, there were not too many fixture clashes.

“So far, I have been busy with Poole but it gets a bit quieter now and I want to get more time on the bike. It is what I need to be doing at this stage of my career.

“I looked into the Premier League but that involved a lot of meetings and with the different things I have lined up abroad, it would have stretched things a bit too far.

“I spent a couple of years at Lakeside on a tight track and you would still ride that very differently to Eastbourne but I hope it will bring something else to my riding.

“If it can benefit my performances on away tracks in the Elite League then that’s a bonus.”

Ellis’s bid to gain experience on the continent will see him ride three individual meetings in three days in Germany on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
