PIRATES reserve Adam Ellis insists he does not regret voicing his opinion over the Lakeside track despite angering a minority of Hammers fans.
The Lakeside asset, who rode for the club in 2014 and 2015, has stated in a number of interviews that he prefers bigger tracks to tighter circuits such as the Arena-Essex Raceway.
Ellis's viewpoint caused disquiet amongst the Hammers faithful and he was booed during a guest booking for Leicester at Purfleet last week.
But ahead of his return to his parent club tonight (7.30pm), the 20-year-old stood by his comments and admitted he was not worried by the annoyance of some supporters towards him.
He told the Daily Echo: "I was just being honest and if some of them don't like it, that's their problem.
"Everyone has the right to disagree and I understand Lakeside fans are not going to want to hear that. But I'm not going to sugar-coat it – I say how I feel. I'm a lot happier now and it's showing.
"When I went back the other day most of the fans were good. They were happy to see me and were happy I am doing well.
"I enjoyed going back and there was just the odd couple that booed. It was water off a duck's back."
Ellis bagged six paid eight in Poole's thumping home win over the Hammers on Wednesday but admitted his gating would need to sharpen up for the return clash.
He added: "I struggled a bit out of the start so I had to do it from the back.
"It was okay in the reserve races but then I didn't quite have the set-up right for the other two, so I am aiming to improve.
"I'm looking forward to going back again and, hopefully, we can come away with a similar result to the one on Wednesday.
"All their boys know the track like the back of their hands so it's going to be a tough one but I reckon their weak point is their reserves.
"They seem to be struggling so, hopefully, me and Kyle Newman can rack up the points."
