MATT Ford has urged Pirates to give Belle Vue a taste of their own medicine when the teams meet tomorrow night (7.30pm).

The Aces have recorded two wins and a draw against Poole in 2015 and Wimborne Road chief Ford is keen to bite back.

He said: “Belle Vue have better statistics in the head-to-heads against us this season and I am sure that Mark Lemon would love to be able to claim that his side were the only team not to have tasted defeat by the Pirates.

“We cannot afford that to be the case and must go out and deliver the kind of performance we have produced of late at Wimborne Road.”

Ford stressed the importance of a first-placed finish in the Elite League, which would hand Pirates the choice of semi-final opponents.

He said: “We would love the chance to choose our play-off opponents.

“A third successive league title is what we have been striving for and between now and the play-offs, every point is vital.

“But that doesn’t just apply to us, as there is a great battle developing for all of the top five sides.

“The play-offs are far from settled and that means we have some really enthralling meetings ahead,” added Ford, who was speaking to the Pirates website.
