NEIL Middleditch has warned Poole Pirates to beware of Kyle Howarth’s backlash in tomorrow’s home meeting with Lakeside (7.30pm).

Former Poole rider Howarth guests for the Hammers less than 48 hours after being ditched by Swindon as part of a loan swoop for Pirates asset Darcy Ward

Middleditch told the Daily Echo: “It is a shame and I feel sorry for Kyle. I can see him being a pretty angry young man and he will want to put himself in the shop window.

“We’re lacking enough talent in Britain as it is. We have been in the wilderness for so many years  so what kind of incentive is it for a young lad to be dropped after having a good season?

“I do understand Rosco’s (Swindon boss Alun Rossiter) thinking because Darcy is a top rider. It must have been a tough call but I don’t think he will be on Kyle’s Christmas card list this year."

Howarth, in for Mikkel Bech who rides in his native Denmark, will not be the only familiar face on show for Lakeside with Vaclav Milik standing in for the injured Kim Nilsson. Carl Wilkinson also guests at reserve.

And although Poole are set to track a full one-to-seven, Middleditch is keen to quash any complacency.

“Andreas Jonsson is a world class rider and Eddie Kennett knows his way round Wimborne Road.

"Lakeside have not had a great time lately but have turned themselves into a dangerous outfit by choosing some good guests in and they could upset us.

“There is no room for complacency on our part at all.”
