CHRIS Holder questioned the timing of the Elite League Riders' Championship and insisted it would lead to an unpredictable night at Leicester.

This year's event is due to take place just six months after the 2014 ELRC with Aussie star Holder and Maciej Janowski set to lead Poole Pirates' charge.

However, Holder, who has never raced at the Jordan Road Surfacing Stadium, believes tomorrow's meeting (7.30pm) is being staged too early in the calendar.

He told the Daily Echo: "It's at the wrong time of year. No one has really done any laps yet so it's not the greatest to be putting it on now.

"I know everyone's in the same boat but it would probably have been a bit better if it had been midway through the year - there are a few weeks where we have nothing on.

"But they are throwing it on now so we'll just have to see how it goes. Some guys take longer to get into gear than others and you might see that on Saturday.

"Hopefully, it will be good weather and the track will be nice and we can all have a good night."

A mouth-watering field will take to the shale with defending champion Troy Batchelor, Matej Zagar and Niels-Kristian Iversen among their number.

Holder admitted that Lions skipper Jason Doyle would head into the ELRC with an advantage but said that any of the line-up could triumph.

The Poole ace added: "Doyley raced there all of last year and they did a meeting there on Sunday so he will have a bit of an advantage.

"Maybe there is a bit of pressure on him but I'm sure he'll be fine.

"It's a pretty good field, so anyone can do it."
