WORLD cup winner ‘Magic’ Maciej Janowski became the first man to tame a testing Wimborne Road track to inspire Pirates to their biggest win of the season.

Poole’s 57-34 victory was rarely in doubt after the prolific Pole broke a sequence of six straight maximums at the start of the meeting, four of which went the hosts’ way.

The 21-year-old held off former Pirate Kevin Wolbert to take second in heat seven and then stole the limelight by winning five of his six races on his way to a stunning 17-point haul.

Little did they know it, but Pirates got off to the perfect start when stand-in skipper Darcy Ward won the toss to open on gates one and three.

All six opening heats went the way of the team on the inside gate positions as Poole’s big blue tractor tried to solve the problem of a sticky surface after every other race.

Aces’ leading light Matej Zagar pulled up at the first bend as Poole’s Josh Grajczonek opened with a win, but home reserve Micky Dyer also struggled on the outside as Ulrich Ostergaard hit straight back for the visitors.

After the shale received some TLC, the meeting got back underway with Grajczonek’s second win of the night providing another 5-1 as the hosts’ fine fettle continued.

Janowski, who racked up 12 points in Poland's world title success in Prague on Saturday, cruised to victory in heat four while Dyer held off former Pirates skipper Magnus Zetterstrom for second spot.

Heat five went Belle Vue’s way as Zagar became the first rider to take the chequered flag in less than a minute.

But Tungate and Ward held their ground to snaffle the spoils in heat six before Janowski put Pirates well and truly in the driving seat with a 10-point lead.

Zetterstrom, making his first appearance in Dorset since October 2009, emerged in the black and white helmet for a tactical ride but was cheekily trumped by guest star Troy Batchelor.

The Aussie, borrowed from Swindon, even allowed himself a split second to wave at the crowd as he steamed round the outside to win with ease.

Craig Cook took a tumble and Pirates were destined for another 5-1 as showman Ward flew down the straight on one wheel, but Wolbert snapped at Dyer’s heels and overtook on the final lap.

Janowski shut out Zagar for yet another success and Batchelor effortlessly helped himself to heat 12 while Dyer’s delicious move round the outside secured second.

That man Janowski then made the result safe, rendering Ward’s uncharacteristic third irrelevant before the impressive Grajczonek bagged his third win of the night.

However, it was the last race that truly summed up the Aces’ unfortunate evening.

Wolbert’s wobble pushed team mate Zagar into the fence and resulted in the German’s exclusion from the final showdown.

And when the Slovenian Grand Prix star also failed to reappear, Janowski and Batchelor were afforded the opportunity to ride round unchallenged to secure Poole’s biggest winning margin of the campaign.
