JOE Rees described as “an absolute honour” the opportunity to lead Lions on the pitch as skipper this season.
The number eight made his 100th start for the club in their opening day defeat to Newbury Blues at Chapel Gate earlier this month.
The contest was also his 25th time representing the team as captain – a role he is set to carry out for the campaign.
Asked about leading Lions on the field in South West Premier this term, Rees replied: “It’s an absolute honour.
“There are a great bunch of lads here. I will just try to lead by example.
“The boys listen well and to have the captaincy is really enjoyable.”
With the club set to showcase their historic 125th season throughout the campaign, Rees also took the time to thank those behind the scenes.
“There is a massive buzz around the club,” he added.
“All the sponsors and volunteers have done a great job.”
