NEW Milton & District have been nominated for the club-of-the-year gong ahead of the Crabbie’s National Rugby Awards.

Milton enjoyed a plethora of successes last season as all three men’s teams won promotion, while the under-11s and under-12s were crowned county champions.

Two representatives from the under-15s were selected – through links with London Irish – to attend an England training camp.

Due to be held at Twickenham Stadium on Wednesday, August 30, the National Rugby Awards celebrate the sport from grassroots to elite level.

Former England captain Chris Robshaw played a key role in the creation of the awards.

He said: “Whether it’s professional players or amateurs, the unsung heroes, the big clubmen or women – both sexes are involved in these awards.

“It’s a ceremony which honours all levels, on and off the pitch.

“It’s in its third year now and I think the brilliant thing about the awards is the 12 categories up for grabs.

“The home of rugby is a massive stage to host something like this.”
