ELLINGHAM & Ringwood secured a 42-28 victory over Isle of Wight in Hampshire One.
Chris Frost scored a first-half hat-trick and fly-half Charlie Cockram also crossed, with Josh Butcher kicking three conversions and two penalties.
An Isle of Wight penalty try saw the half-time scoreline read 32-7 in the hosts’ favour.
The visitors came back strongly in the second period with three converted tries.
But another Frost score and a Butcher conversion secured a bonus-point victory for the Es.
Meanwhile, New Milton were knocked off the top of Hampshire One after suffering a 38-8 defeat at Sandown & Shanklin.
The visitors got on the scoreboard first when Adam Lavis converted a penalty. But a converted try, followed by another try, handed Sandown & Shanklin a 12-3 lead.
Following the restart, the hosts crossed for a converted score before touching down on three further occasions, two of which were converted.
New Milton’s only respite during that onslaught came when Ramon Mallette crossed the whitewash.
