ILAITIA Ratuqalovi and Henry Oliver both scored their first tries for Swanage & Wareham in their 34-15 victory over Southern Counties South rivals Blandford at Bestwall.

Swans, fresh from booking a place in the Southern Counties final of the South West RFU Intermediate Cup, completed the double over Blandford following their 50-14 win at Larksmead in October.

Swans made a flying start when scrum-half Chris Tomes opened the scoring with a try after just three minutes, with teenager Steve Woolley adding the extras to put them 7-0 in front.

And they doubled their lead when Ratuqalovi went over for his maiden score, with Woolley again slotting over the conversion.

The visitors reduced the arrears by scoring two tries in an eight-minute spell midway through the first half, although neither was converted.

Oliver touched down following a line-out five minutes before the break as Swans reached the interval leading 19-10.

Winger Alex Parry extended their advantage to 24-10 when he went over in the corner after 48 minutes.

The game became scrappy with the teams trading several penalties before Swans went further ahead after Pat Adkins won the race for the ball and scored a try in the corner.

Blandford replied almost immediately with their third try of the contest but Adkins had the final say when he went over for his second try and Swans’ sixth.
