WIMBORNE leapfrogged Swanage & Wareham at the top of Southern Counties South with a comprehensive 51-3 victory at Combe Down on Saturday.
Hat-trick hero Tom Moysey crossed early in the match to settle the visitors, who were missing a host of regulars for their first ever trip to the Bath club's Holly's Corner ground.
Combe Down recovered from that setback to doggedly keep their title chasing opponents at bay for a period, Wimborne’s cause not helped when Ed Carter was sent to the sin bin.
Moysey’s second try, however, which he converted himself, finally gave the away side some breathing space.
The hosts quickly registered their only points of the game with a drop goal, but Jim Brokenshire then crossed to send Wimborne into the break with a 17-3 lead.
Ashton Kerley and Darren Deguara both went over within ten minutes of the restart to put the outcome beyond doubt.
Wimborne scented blood against a team they had routed 47-3 earlier in the season.
And further tries from Tom Starr, JB Blackmore, Alex Kerley and Moysey ensured a similarly emphatic victory to the one achieved in October – and opened up a three-point gap to the Swans at division's the summit.
Wimborne: Tinsdale, Draper, Adams, Deguara, Warren, Carter, Foley, Alex Kerley, Moysey, Brokenshire, Stringer, Robertson, Brown, Ashton Kerley.
Replacements: Stainer, Hunt, Blackmore.
