CHARLIE Ewels's hopes of featuring in England's final game of the autumn series against Australia have been given a boost.

The Bournemouth-raised lock, a late replacement as England saw off Argentina on Saturday, has been retained in Eddie Jones's squad.

Bath Rugby's Ewels was among 33 players to assemble at Pennyhill Park on Sunday to train ahead of this weekend's clash with the Wallabies at Twickenham.

The 21-year-old won his first international cap when he replaced Courtney Lawes for the final 14 minutes of the 58-15 hammering of Fiji earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Semesa Rokoduguni's bid to win a third cap was boosted – in unlikely circumstances – after wing Elliot Daly was sent off against Argentina.

Wasps back Daly wiped out Pumas' Leonardo Senatore in the fifth minute as the number eight took a high ball, causing him to land on his head.

Unless England appeal the red card and are successful – both of which are unlikely – Daly will be banned for the meeting with Australia.

That means ex-Lytchett Minster flier Rokoduguni could be restored to the starting XV, although Marland Yarde will also be keen to earn a recall.

Meanwhile, Saracens' Billy Vunipola has been released from the squad due to a knee injury.
