BOURNEMOUTH'S Charlie Ewels has been called up by England for the forthcoming autumn series.

Ewels, who progressed through the youth ranks at Bournemouth Rugby Club, is one of six uncapped players included in the 33-man squad.

England on Sunday depart for a week-long training camp in Portugal and open their autumn internationals against South Africa on November 12 with Fiji, Argentina and Australia also visiting Twickenham.

Ewels, who attended Moordown St Johns School and Bournemouth School, was snapped up by the Bath Academy as a teenager.

The lock was a key member of the England under-20 team which won the 2014 Junior World Championship in New Zealand.

He made his Bath Rugby debut against Glasgow Warriors in the European Rugby Champions Cup in November 2014 and went on to make eight first team appearances while still in the Academy.

Ewels made the step from Academy to first team in 2015, as well as captaining England under-20s to runners-up spot in the World Rugby Under-20 Championship final.
