BOURNEMOUTH'S Joe Tarrant has been asked to attend training sessions with the London Irish first team following his star turn for Exiles' A side.

The front-row caught the eye during a second-half run-out against Southern Conference leaders Harlequins at the end of last month.

Tarrant made a 40-metre line break and a try-saving tackle in a 34-7 defeat at Twickenham Stoop, his second appearance for Exiles' second string.

And after the game, Tarrant was singled out for praise by British Lion Adam Jones, who played for Quins.

Bournemouth head coach Will Croker told the Daily Echo: "London Irish have told Joe that he will definitely be starting the next A League game, which is against Exeter in March.

"And in the meantime, they have asked if he would be prepared to go and do a few training sessions with their first team.

"It's all quite serious. He's done incredibly well and we're really proud of him.

"What we want him to do now is realise now is that he is capable of playing in those echelons of the game."

Bournemouth are next in action at home to National Three South West leaders Lydney on Saturday (2pm).

Lydney defeated Lions 15-7 in September and have won 10 games out of 14 this season.
