SWANAGE & Wareham set the tone for a first-half destruction of Salisbury by pouncing on an early error in their latest victory at Bestwall.

The table-topping Swans raced into a 28-3 half-time lead and, despite not scoring in the second half, Tom Dillon’s men comfortably secured their seventh bonus-point win of the season.

Salisbury were undone after only two minutes when a kick into the 22 was fumbled and home centre Phil Graves quickly snaffled the ball to touch down near the posts. Fly-half Charlie Parish added the conversion.

The visitors pressed and were awarded several penalties but full-back Tom Pottage was only able to land one before Swans again crossed the whitewash on 12 minutes.

Full-back Callum Baird linked up with Charlie Rowberry who made up the ground to return to Baird to round off the move. Parish again added the extras.

The game remained tight but a slick move saw Swanage scrum-half Freddy Strange play out to Baird who set away number-eight Joe Desmond for a third converted try.

A dropped pass then sealed Swans’ bonus point before the break with wing Kirk Jones kicking ahead from deep and collecting his own drive to burst over the try-line. Parish made it four from four with the boot.

Two late Salisbury efforts were the only highlights of a scrappy second half but Swanage held on to what became the only 100 per cent record in Southern Counties South by the end of play and extend to seven points their lead at the top of the table.
