WIMBORNE-based golf sensation Georgia Hall has been confirmed in the field for next month's Canberra Classic.

Off the back of an outstanding year having won the Ladies' European Tour's order of merit, the 21-year-old will be one of the favourites for glory in the Australian capital.

Royal Canberra is set to host the tournament which begins days after the first LET event of the year, the Vic Open, which Hall won in 2016 but did not defend last year.

The former Oakmead College pupil is on the entry list for the £375,000 event at 13th Beach Golf Links, as are six-time LET winner Mel Reid and Indian star Aditi Ashok.

Hall was named LET players’ player of the year for 2017, a year in which she made her Solheim Cup debut in Iowa, winning two points for Europe having played in all five matches.

The former Canford Kid banked her best finish in a Major when she finished tied third in the Women’s British Open, also managing a top-10 spot on her debut in the Evian Championship.

She earned £327,000 in topping the order of merit, more than double that of nearest rival Carlota Ciganda.

The Canberra Classic will be contested from February 9-11 and will be co-sanctioned by Australian Ladies' Professional Golf (ALPG) and the LET.
