RISING amateur star Jack Singh Brar admitted he had felt "robbed" after narrowly missing out on victory in the prestigious Brabazon Trophy.

The Remedy Oak player had headed into the final round at Woodhall Spa GC on eight under par and tied for the lead with South Africa's Kyle McClatchie.

But McClatchie celebrated his 20th birthday with a closing two under, one better than Singh Brar, who tied for second with compatriot Jake Burnage and Scotland's Jamie Stewart.

Singh Brar reduced the gap to one shot with a birdie at the 12th hole of the Lincolnshire course but he could not hole the putts necessary to move ahead.

He needed an eagle on the last to tie but the putt refused to drop and he settled for a closing 72.

“I feel robbed of it,” said Singh Brar.

“I hit some good shots in but didn’t hole anything. But it’s a good result and I’d have taken it at the start of the week.”

Saunton GC's Burnage, who was partnered with Singh Brar, said: “We both played all right and spurred each other along but we didn’t hole the putts. It’s sore for now but second in the Brabazon isn’t that bad, is it?”
