BOURNEMOUTH'S Georgia Hall admitted her father had proved a calming influence on the fairways after she continued her red-hot form with a fourth-placed finish at the French Open.

Dad Wayne, who caddied for his daughter, looked proudly on as Hall shot a closing 64 at Golf De Chantaco in Saint-Jean-de-Luz – the lowest round of the final day.

That blistering, bogey-less effort, which the 20-year-old professional has never bettered on the Ladies' European Tour, enabled her to finish on eight under par following previous rounds of 68, 72 and 68.

Hall had recorded her best finish on tour a fortnight ago when she ended in a tie for third in the Spanish Open. And a haul of 11,250 euro this time out enabled the former Curtis Cup star to move up one place to 10th in the order of merit.

The former Oakmead College pupil is now one good tournament away from smashing through the six-figure earnings mark on the LET this year.

Reflecting on her efforts in France following yesterday's final round, Hall said: "My dad was with me and he helped a lot and calmed me down when I got frustrated. He helped me with some tough decisions.

"Today everything came together. I didn't make a bogey and had 27 putts so I think it was the best I played all week.

"In the first couple of days I didn't play that well but over the weekend I relaxed a bit and managed to hole some putts.

"I'm very happy with the result – it's another top-five finish. This is one of my favourite events of the year and I enjoy coming here."

Hall was speaking to the LET.
