POOLE Town vice-chairman Chris Reeves is confident no action will be taken against the club after a controversial match report appeared on an unofficial website.

The Wessex League stepped in after a report from Dolphins' December 29 Premier Division clash with Bemerton Heath Harlequins was posted on poole-town.fsnet.co.uk.

Webmaster Steve Bean, who is the site administrator, penned the piece after a particularly fiery encounter at Westwood Recreation Ground.

Bean's report claimed Bemerton's strong-arm tactics "left a sour taste in the mouth" and that the Harlequins players "continued their thuggish behaviour" from the sides' previous league clash in March last year.

He also described some of the hosts' challenges as "brutish and late".

Reeves said: "It's an unofficial website so it's not something over which the club has any control. The league is concerned about the report, but I've only known about it since Saturday.

"I would expect that, as soon as I remind the league that the website is unofficial, this will die a death.

"A couple of times over the course of the past few years we've had similar items of correspondence from the league and I think I'm right in saying on a couple of occasions we've pointed out this website is unofficial and the whole thing has been dropped.

"It's a fantastic site and given that it is unofficial and the administrator is an ardent supporter, it's not surprising that, every now and again, something goes on there that the league isn't too happy with.

"It's fair to say the game against Bemerton was a little physical, but I don't want to be dragged into anything that will stir things up. As far as we're concerned, it's history."

Wessex League acting chairman Bob Purkiss confirmed the league was looking into the report, but would not be drawn on any potential action.

"We had a complaint from Bemerton about the contents of what was on the website," Purkiss told the Echo.

"Poole are now saying it's an unofficial website and nothing to do with them. I'm still investigating that at this time and to see if this has brought the league and competition into disrepute."

Bean, meanwhile, claimed he was "in the dark" over the Wessex League's involvement and insisted he had "no regrets" about the report.

"I've been doing the website for about eight years now and, going back a few years, maybe I have put a few things up that I shouldn't have.

"But I don't see anything in that report that they could be upset about. All I've done is report it the way I've seen it.

"I thought that game was exceptional in the behaviour of their (Bemerton) team and bench. It was disgraceful.

"I could have written a lot worse really. It was toned down."
