TOM Killick wants to banish his Western Premier League hoodoo once and for all when Poole Town travel to Bitton AFC in the FA Vase tomorrow (3pm).

The Dolphins boss admitted he is “envious” of some of the other second round draws, with the Tatnam outfit paired against table-topping Bitton who have suffered just two defeats in 14 league games this term.

And with Killick confessing to a less than impressive record against Western League opposition, Dolphins will be hoping to spring a surprise on Andy Black’s in-form outfit.

Killick told the Echo: “The reports that have come back suggest it is going to be a really tough game for us. I don’t think they have conceded a goal in the last five games so it’s one of the hardest draws we could have had.

“When I look at some of the other draws knocking around at this stage, I feel a little envious.

“But we have to get on with it and we play to our best, hopefully we’ll have a reasonable chance.

“We seem to always get knocked out of competitions by Western League sides and since I’ve been manager we really haven’t done very well against sides from that division.

“Sides from the Western League often seem to be physically stronger and they are always hard games. But we’re in good form and we should be confident so we’ll knuckle down and see what we can do.

“I’d rather be in a few other teams’ shoes, though, that’s for sure.”

Grant Porter continues in goal for Killick’s men while Jason Harvell recovers from injury and Stuart Brown returns to the squad. Carl Poore, however, is still sidelined.

Jack Swann, meanwhile, is still considering an offer to return to former club Bournemouth Poppies and is unavailable for Dolphins’ Vase trip.

Killick added: “Jack’s not going to be around on Saturday. He’s going out with Tony Pulis’s daughter and he’s going up to Old Trafford to watch Stoke play Manchester United.

“He is still thinking about things and I should know after the weekend what’s he is planning to do.”
