BOSS Tom Killick says he will be pleased for Josh Wakefield if his stint at Poole Town helps him move back into the professional ranks.

Wakefield joined Dolphins on a non-contract basis following his release by National League outfit Aldershot last month.

The midfielder had previously been let go by Cherries last summer having made four first-team appearances, all of which were in 2012.

Wakefield made his Poole debut as a second-half substitute in last Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Ebbsfleet in National South.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow's trip to Maidenhead (3pm), Killick told the Daily Echo: "This is the first time in Josh's life that he hasn't been attached to a professional club and I know he's keen to get back into that environment.

"He is a local lad and wants to help us in the short-term. I'm sure he will hope it will prove a stepping stone for his own career and I would be happy if that turned out to be the case.

"If he had one or two games with us and then got an opportunity, I'd be pleased for him.

"From our point of view, we're just seeing how it goes. It is one match at a time."

The 23-year-old Wakefield made 17 appearances for Shots earlier this season.
