BOSS Brendon King said Hamworthy's 3-1 win over Sydenhams Wessex Premier high-fliers Sholing was a "massive result".

Debutant Mark Ford scored twice and George Turner also netted for Hammers. The visitors had TJ Cuthbertson dismissed on 77 minutes, when the game was level at 1-1.

King told the Daily Echo: "The sending off was a massive turning point. We were superb in the first half but they were the better side after half-time.

"Five or six weeks ago, we would have crumbled. It was a massive result for us."

Elsewhere, Kevin Foreman, Dave Ewen and Fawzi Saadi scored Poppies' goals in their 3-1 win at Fawley, while Mark Smith struck twice as basement dwellers Verwood drew 2-2 with Fareham.

Sean Wright, Charlie Kendall and Dan Munday were all on target in Bashley's 3-2 victory at Amesbury.

Joe Chamberlain's goal could not prevent a 3-1 home defeat for Brockenhurst at the hands of Andover.

An own goal saw 10-man Lymington lose 1-0 to second-placed Blackfield & Langley.

In Wessex One, Will Gage, Grant Cormack and Andy Masson's double propelled promotion-chasing Christchurch to a 4-1 victory over Folland.

Ant Harris and Dan Molyneaux earned New Milton a 2-2 draw at Baffins, while Ringwood's visit to Tadley ended goalless.
