BOSS Ollie Cherrett was left to rue seeing Christchurch fail to cash in on their first-half superiority as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Wessex One rivals Weymouth reserves.

Goals from Ash Pope and Stevie Rattue were all Priory had to show for a dominant display during the opening period at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

And they were made to pay for their profligacy as the hosts hit back to level after the break through Morgan Turner and Sanchez Baker-Jansz.

Cherrett told the Daily Echo: “It was the most one-sided first half I had ever seen in my life. I think they had one shot on target and we had about 10 but their goalkeeper made some unbelievable saves.

“Once we got our second goal, it should have been a case of how many more we were going to get. We needed a third goal to kill the game and so it proved.

“They regrouped at half-time and changed their formation. We stopped playing and stopped doing everything we have always done.

“They got a goal back from a move which started with a big hoof down the pitch. They threw everything at us for 10 minutes and managed to get a lucky deflection and it was 2-2.

“They were the most direct side I have ever seen in my life but that’s football and we had to deal with it.

“We conceded two silly goals and it was frustrating. I was disappointed to drop points but it is not an easy place to go. We have to regroup and go again.”
