HAMWORTHY United fought back to secure a 2-2 draw with Portland United in the Sydenhams Wessex Premier on Tuesday.

Playing on the new 3G surface at the County Ground, the Hammers were forced to come from behind to earn a draw.

On target for Portland, who were champions of Division One last season, were Ed Bastick and Tom Richardson.

But Steve Smith and Connor Phillips ensured the home side took a share of the spoils.

Hamworthy are still searching for their first league win of the season having drawn two and lost three of their opening five games.

Elsewhere in the division, a Shane Sheridan goal earned Bashley a 1-1 draw at Poppies as they continued their strong start to the campaign.

Brockenhurst had their new floodlights opened by former Southampton star Francis Benali before playing out a 0-0 draw with Lymington Town.

In Wessex One, Ringwood Town bagged their first league win of the campaign as they sunk local rivals New Milton Town 2-1.

On target for Ringwood were Elliot Peck and Michael Johnston while New Milton’s consolation came courtesy of Ant Harris.

Ringwood are now 12th in the table, one place above Milton.
