CHRIS Reeves revealed Poole Town had started work on alternative stadium sites and that a move from Tatnam remained on the cards.

The Dolphins vice-chairman was speaking after confirming talks over a return to the club’s spiritual home Poole Stadium had broken down.

Having been promoted to National South at the end of last season, Poole’s ground must meet the Football Association’s B grade by March 31, 2017.

And while it is anticipated that they can bring Tatnam up to scratch, Reeves admits moving on forms an essential part of the club’s long-term objectives.

Reeves told the Daily Echo: “Being realistic, the council is not going to provide a solution (build a new stadium) but I hope they will look for answers rather than problems in any proposals.

“We recently held a meaningful meeting some of the main players which I am optimistic will lead to a proposal being put to the council but there have been so many false dawns so we have to remain patient.

“Relatively speaking, our thoughts are in their infancy but I do have a real confidence that we can pick up momentum given the level of football we are at.

“We have to be proactive. The board of directors is fully aware of the need for urgency."

n Poole Town will welcome back one of its greats from the 1960s at their opening home league match of the new season.

Eddie Gray, a cultured wing-half who made 64 appearances for the Dolphins between 1963 and 1966, will watch the current crop take on Maidenhead on Tuesday, August 9.
