TOM Killick admits Poole Town are “unlikely” to extend Lee Wort’s loan ahead of tomorrow's clash with Weymouth – despite being keen to retain his services.

Gosport striker Wort has two goals to show for seven Southern League Premier Division appearances across two weather-disrupted months at Tatnam.

Manager Killick had been set to assess his options in attack after Saturday’s showdown at title-rivals Redditch, which fell victim to a deluge of rain across Worcestershire.

But with February’s schedule containing home clashes with the Terras and high-flying Hitchin, as well as a lengthy midweek trip to Stratford, Killick harbours hopes of keeping Wort on board.

Killick told the Daily Echo: “I am still hopeful we can sort something out but it will depend on Gosport’s view, what Lee would like to do and the financial side of things.

“It is unlikely to be sorted out before Weymouth and it is a case of seeing where we stand after that.”

Results elsewhere saw Poole relinquish the summit over the weekend with Chippenham Town’s 4-1 thumping of King’s Lynn giving the Bluebirds a one-point advantage having played two more matches than Killick’s men.
