LUKE Roberts helped Poole to victory over Cambridge City by bagging a double before admitting he should have had more goals, reports Jack Amey.

The young striker, who has started 19 games for the Dolphins this season, scored either side of a Michael Malcolm equaliser as Poole returned to the top of the table.

Roberts told the Daily Echo: “Coming into the game and being an attacking player, your main aim is to get yourself on the scoresheet and I was delighted to get two.

“We dominated possession in the first half. I probably should have had one or two more goals, but the main thing is we won.

“We will go into training and I will work on my shooting and areas that need improvement so, hopefully, I will take those chances in the next game.”

Roberts added: “We are top of the league and that is where we want to be. It was a great performance from the lads in the first half, probably some of the best football we have played.”

“In the second half, it was a different game. They set out to stop us pressing so high and piling balls in their box which they managed to do for 10 minutes.

“They got themselves back in it but we continued to do what we do well, passed the ball well and got our crosses in.”
