BOSS Dan Cobb is confident his Victoria Cross side will put in a decent shift in the FA Sunday Cup tomorrow – even though he cannot keep an eye on them.

Cobb is midway through a 12-game ban and will not play any part when the Hayward Premier League outfit face London St Georges in a crunch second-round clash at Magna Road (1pm).

But the boss, who also missed the comfortable victory over Emmer Green in the previous round, hopes another success will follow against last season’s Sportsman Senior League champions.

He told the Daily Echo: “I will probably gather all the boys together before the game and talk to them face to face away from the ground and then, hopefully, they will do the business.

“I’m lucky in that I’ve known most of the lads since school and I know that they take everything on board. Whether I’m there or not, I know they will give 100 per cent.

“There’s nothing worse than giving a team talk and then waiting at home for your phone to go off. It’s a bit of a nightmare but I have every faith in the lads.”

Assistant manager Shaun Mercer will continue to lead Victoria Cross in Cobb’s absence.
