DIRECTOR Ken Fergus insists Wimborne Town have not sacked manager Steve Cuss – but say the boss has offered his resignation for the second time this season.

Speculation surfaced from Cuthbury following today’s 3-0 home defeat to Slimbridge, a setback that left Magpies hovering precariously above the Southern South & West relegation places.

Cuss, who is the majority shareholder and sole director of the club’s parent company Parmiter Holdings, last month used his programme notes to say he had offered to stand down as manager before agreeing to stay on at the board’s request.

And Fergus is adamant Wimborne’s hierarchy are keen for him to stay on.

Asked whether Cuss had been sacked, Fergus told the Daily Echo: “That is completely untrue.

“Steve offered his resignation after the game today and we have to debate whether that will be accepted.

“We will talk tomorrow about it and try to get him to change his mind.”

Asked whether the club wanted Cuss to stay on, Fergus replied. “Absolutely. 100 per cent.”

Cuss and chairman Ken Stewart were unavailable for comment.
